iRobot’s latest vacuum cleaner isn’t a robot

iRobot has just announced a new robotic vacuum cleaner. The $399 Roomba Electro Plus is a powerful 5-in-1 floor cleaner that combines vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting, but you have to use it yourself. The company also announced updates to its Roomba line of robotic vacuums, introducing five new models with higher suction power, smaller footprints, and lower prices. This is especially the place line reached in 2025.

The new Electro Plus is designed for hard surfaces only, and is similar to the new range of wet floor cleaners available from. Dreaming, Roborockand others. The iRobot’s differentiator is the Electro’s ability to turn regular tap water into a cleaning solution that is safe for children and pets just by turning it off.

The cordless vacuum/mop has a safety switch and a motor to help drive it, reducing the amount of manual work required. Its washing port cleans and dries the pump when you use it with hot water and hot air, but you have to drain, clean, and refill its water tank.

iRobot says the Electro Plus is something its customers have been asking for, filling a space in their homes. “If they have a mess they want to clean up, they probably want to do it faster with this type of model,” iRobot senior engineer and vice president Adam Pope said. Seaside. “Personally, I love that I can clean my bathroom and kitchen and let the Roombas take care of the rest of the house.”

An important innovation in Electro Plus is that it does not require a separate cleaning process. Instead, it uses electrolyzing technology developed by iRobot’s parent company, Picea, that turns tap water into a commercial disinfectant that can kill 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other germs.

Picea, formerly an ODM for iRobot, acquired the company this year to follow its failure. The companies were already working together – the Roomba series with lidar it was launched in 2025 it is made of Picea.

Along with the Electro Plus, iRobot launched five new Roomba robots in the US. These new species, was first announced in Europe in Mayand many changes to those robots, combined with a significant drop in prices.

Top-of-the-line Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + Auto Wash Dock ($999.99) is an upgrade to Roomba Max 705 Combo ($1,299.99). It adds suction power (30,000Pa), hot water pump cleaning, and hot water drop cleaning to the robot roller.

The Roomba Max 715 Vacuum Robot + Auto Empty Dock ($699.99), replaces the Roomba Max 705 ($899.99) with increased gravity, 30,000Pa from 13,000Pa, and lower cost. Both robots feature Roomba’s signature dual-rubber brushes with anti-tangle technology, as well as the lidar navigation and AI problem detection of previous models.

In the middle Roomba Plus 575 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($799.99) instead Roomba 505 ($999.99) and is almost half the size, thanks to the new dual-lidar sensor. iRobot chief engineer & vice president Adam Pope says Seaside this new technology allowed them to fit more technology into a smaller space. With a clearance of 9 cm and a wide width, the 575 should easily fit under furniture and cabinets.

The Roomba 575 is 46% more compact than the 505, making it easier to get under seats and maneuver around tight spaces.

Liquid cleaning robots have dual spinners, boost up to 20,000Pa for suction, hot water washing and drying, and a liquid water tank. It uses an AI-powered camera to detect dirt and debris, enabling a Smart Scrub feature that can move around the dirty area. It can also be mounted on ladders up to 35mm.

The same goes for new ones Roomba Plus 515 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($699.99), which has the same performance as the 575, with a lower resolution, slightly lower power, and no camera, so no AI-powered obstacle or spot detection.
