Arsenal star close to leaving… and Arteta planning 3 hot deals

Arsenal have witnessed a week full of developments in the transfer market after coming close to parting ways with one of their most popular attacking players, while being dealt a heavy blow by losing out in the race to sign one of England’s hottest talents. On the other hand, the London club continue to work to strengthen their ranks with big names despite the financial complications surrounding target deals.

“Arsenal” has reached a financial agreement with Turkish “Besiktas” regarding the transfer of Belgian winger Leandro Trosar in the current summer transfer period. According to the newspaper “The AthleticBeşiktaş will pay €18 million as a base fee for the deal, in addition to €2 million in incentives and performance-related variables.

Talks between the player and the Turkish club are still ongoing to reach a final agreement on personal terms, while the deal is not expected to be completed before Belgium’s World Cup campaign is decided.

Arsenal have been dealt a major blow in the race to sign Leicester City talent Jeremy Monga after Manchester City managed to seal the deal for him. City have agreed a £12.5m deal with Leicester to sign the 16-year-old, plus a percentage of his future resale value.

Arsenal were the closest side to signing Monga of late, but Enzo Maresca, the new Manchester City manager, played a key role in convincing the player, drawing on his previous knowledge of him when he took over at Leicester City in the 2023-2024 season.

Monga turns seventeen this week, becoming eligible to sign the first professional contract of his career. Although he was open to a move to any club, he quickly agreed a deal with Manchester City, while Arsenal decided to leave after seeing the final price of the deal exceed their financial valuation.

Who are Arsenal’s targets at Mercato?

Arsenal continue to look for strong attacking reinforcements ahead of the start of the new season and Aston Villa star Morgan Rodgers remains the club’s management’s first target.

The club is also seriously exploring the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola to strengthen the front line.

But completing the two deals won’t be easy, with Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain both insisting on acquiring more than £100m in exchange for either player.

In midfield, Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes remains an interest of Arsenal, but Newcastle United continue to insist that the player is not for sale, especially after letting go of Antony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, according to The Athletic.

Who are the nominated football players to leave?

Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is interested from a number of clubs in Italy and Spain. Any club could sign Kepa in return for paying his £5 million release clause in his contract, which could pave the way for him to leave in the current transfer window.

On the other hand, reports have denied the validity of reports that team captain Martin Odegaard has agreed a move to the Turkish league, following in Trosari’s footsteps.

He confirmed that Odegaard is fully focused on Norway’s World Cup journey and that he feels stable and happy at Arsenal and is not currently considering a move away.
