There is no new audio recording of calls and what you are listening to

It’s something that reminds us a little No Ear 3 was released last September. Those come with a wireless recorder with a built-in microphone that can be used to take phone calls or record notes and memos to the Nothing mobile app, but the Ear 3A takes a different approach.

The new earbuds still come with a case, but they’re only used for storage and charging, extending playback times from 10 to 42 hours, or up to 25 in total when using ANC. The only microphones are on the earpieces, which have been upgraded with 32MB of storage. Yes, that’s megabytes, not gigabytes.

The added memory allows the headphones to record what you’re listening to. By pressing on both ears you can start a new feature called Audio Snapshot which records what is playing and a little registration to make sure nothing is missing. These recordings are automatically linked to the Nothing X app, where they can be shared, edited, reproduced, or recorded. The company says in a release today that the new feature is “personal, not commercial,” so there’s no limit to what you can do.

The Ear 3A can also record phone calls using other features, but due to limited storage, the recordings are limited to two hours. And as with Audio Snapshots, they can be easily accessed once connected to the mobile app later.

Other changes to the Ear 3A include new 12mm drivers for deeper bass, greater noise cancellation that covers a wider range of frequencies, smaller ear tips, and a new pink color option alongside the existing black, white, and yellow colors.

The release of the Ear 3A accompanies the release of the No Phone 4Ba budget smartphone that is only being released in the UK, Europe, and India.
