Haaland is waiting
Announce England captain Harry Kane has announced that his voice is back to normalafter he appeared in a very pointed tone while carrying out his media duties following his country’s thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico at the World Cup.
Kane put the Three Lions ahead 3-1 with a penalty kick shortly after teammate Jarrell Quansah was sent off.
Raul Jimenez reduced Mexico’s lead from the penalty spot, but ten-man England braved their defense to hold on and secure qualification to face Norway in the quarter-finals.
The post-match celebrations, which included singing another version of Oasis classic Wonderwall, put a noticeable strain on striker Harry Kane’s vocal cords.
“It was a crazy match, we had to fight. I was just there singing, I can’t really talk,” Kane told the BBC, laughing in a hoarse voice similar to the sounds he usually makes after Sunday’s Glastonbury festival.
According to ESPNThe interview went viral all over the internet, but after a night’s sleep and perhaps a cup of mint tea, the England captain struck a more casual tone in a video he posted to his social media.
“As you can hear, my voice is back,” Kane said in a video today, Tuesday.
“I mean, what a historic and unforgettable interview last night,” Kane added. “I’m happy to see everyone laughing and enjoying themselves on social media.”
“But yeah, it was a perfect match to end a perfect night,” the England captain continued.
His voice sounded more familiar to England fans than his harsh tone after the last-16 encounter, although a slight hoarseness remained in his throat.
Kane spoke about the atmosphere of the match, saying: “Participating in that match was very special. The atmosphere and the stadium were great and I think everyone was very excited to be there and play in this historic match.”
Kane continued. “Then to overcome obstacles during the game, to fight like we did, to sacrifice our bodies, to cover players everywhere on the pitch, it was just an incredible thing to be a part of, to be honest.”
“Without a doubt, it’s one of my favorite games for England,” confirmed the England striker.
Kane concluded. “We are now recovering and will rest. We have two days to rest and then we will definitely prepare for the big match in the quarter-finals.”
Harry Kane will have a strong two-way matchup against fellow Norwegian Erling Haaland when the two teams meet in Miami next Saturday.
