Based on the culture and lifestyle of midwives, this reality series sends a group of men and women to live in an Amish community. Unsurprisingly, they are met with skepticism. But the participants seem to really adapt to this new life: coffee barista Billie Jo has been wearing Amish clothes at work for 10 years. But then Kendra is embarrassed for arriving in an expensive dress, and Aaron’s phone is confiscated – even though he wants to help him hear. Hollie Richardson

Beautiful, inspiring and educational (how many films can say that?!), the now-defunct BBC film is sorely missed. There are four episodes to go, though – the two installments see emotional goodbyes and chemistry tests that leave nowhere for the squirming couples to hide. Hannah J Davies
