Prince Harry began his tour of the United Kingdom with a court ruling.

The Duke of Sussex’s return to the UK will begin a week of engagements in London for the Invictus Games, a charity for wounded military veterans.

On Tuesday, Prince and others will hear the outcome of a court case against Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail, alleging illegal data collection.

Prince Harry will attend events alone as his wife Meghan and children Archie and Lilibeth are not in London due to security concerns.

The tour got off to a tumultuous start when Prince Harry’s entourage announced that they had accepted an invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace.

But this was denied by the palace, which said the prince had been told he could not stay after failing to respond to an invitation on Saturday.

There are five days of events that the prince will take part in from Tuesday, showing support for a number of UK charities and raising funds for the Invictus Games. This will include a visit to Birmingham during the week when they will be held this time next year.

His visit coincided with the publication of the court case in Associated Press on Tuesday, which brought out celebrities including Sir Elton John, Sir Simon Hughes, Liz Hurley, Sadie Frost and Baroness Doreen Lawrence.

The newspaper group, which publishes the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, used illegal methods to obtain information for stories – allegations strongly denied by the publishers.

It is the latest – and expected to be the last – in a series of court battles by Prince Harry against what he sees as dishonest behavior by the UK press.

If the outcome of the case is that the judge supports some claims and rejects others, all parties can win.
