50% is less. Germany awaits Klopp’s decisive decision

It seems that the German Football Association has decided on its destination, but has not decided yet. Behind the scenes, moves are accelerating to convince Jurgen Klopp to take charge of Germany in a deal that could bring one of Germany’s most popular managers to the fore, but his contract with Red Bull is still the biggest obstacle to completing a deal.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, vice-president of the German Football Association, said that the association is going to travel to the United States in the coming days to hold talks with Jurgen Klopp, who heads the list of candidates to replace Julian Nagelsmann, the head coach of the German national team.

Watzke said in his statements to Channel 2 of the German TV channel, reported by the newspaper.Middle EastSaudi Arabia. “It is true that we intend to leave for the United States soon, and in the coming days we will decide on our final destination. It also depends to some extent on Jurgen Klopp.”

German newspaper Bild reported that the crucial match would take place in New York, where German federation president Bernd Neuendorf, accompanied by Watzke, planned to make an unannounced trip to hold talks with Klopp, who currently works as a TV analyst for World Cup competitions and lives in New York.

Watzke explained that the biggest obstacle to completing the deal is Klopp’s commitment to the Red Bull Group contract, saying: “There is more than one obstacle, but the most important thing is that Jurgen Klopp is under contract because he is an employee of the (Red Bull) group.”

Klopp’s contract with Red Bull is extended until 2029, where he holds the position of the group’s global football president. According to Bild, official talks between the German federation and Red Bull have not started yet, as Klopp is expected to have a first meeting with the group’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, who will also travel to New York in the coming days.

Despite these complications, Watzke expressed his optimism about the possibility of closing the deal, stressing: “I think its success rate exceeds 50%, but not 100%. Anyone who follows the media may think that everything is decided, but the reality is that the matter is not yet decided.

The vice-president of the German Federation emphasized that the financial aspect will not be the main obstacle to the agreement and joked. “Of course, we have a financial ceiling, but I expect that Jurgen Klopp will offer a small discount based on patriotic motives.”

Watzke praised Klopp’s technical capabilities, stressing. “Jurgen Klopp makes players better and that’s an indisputable fact. If he takes over as coach of the national team, German football will become physically stronger, more intense and stronger.”

He concluded his remarks by stating that the German Federation hopes to resolve the matter of a new technical director in a short period of time, saying: “I think we will do it in four weeks at the latest.”
