T20 Blast: Lancashire, Derbyshire tie in last-ball thriller

Despite losing captain Aneurin Donald, caught in Anderson’s attack, Derbyshire started quickly.

Donald quickly hit two leg-side sixes off Mitch Stanley and after four overs hit back-to-back boundaries off the spin of Anderson Hartley as the score reached 44-1.

The brilliant Anderson struck again for the Lightning when Yusuf Bin Naeem was caught at deep backward square-leg, with Shadab Khan and Hartley really putting the pressure on the Falcons before Livingstone’s spin.

Wayne Madsen was lbw with a googly off Shadab’s leg spin – 66-3 in the eighth over – before Livingstone and Hartley both struck twice in an over as the Falcons trailed to 121-7 after 16 overs.

In total, they lost six wickets in the last six overs. Anderson finished with 2-21 from his four overs and Livingstone with 2-24 from his four.

Keaton Jennings hit an early six over deep midwicket off Matt Montgomery and Akif Javed before the former got revenge by bowling the Lancashire skipper for 23 as the score slipped to 35-1 in the fifth over.

Like Jennings, fellow opener Michael Jones failed to get past twenty and was bowled for 28 by Pakistani left-hander Akif, taking the score to 61 in the ninth over.

But Livingstone soon opened his shoulders to take former county colleague Jack Morley to long-on for six and into double figures.

The brilliant Sufian created some doubt when he had Ben McDermott caught at deep midwicket and Joe Moores caught next ball – 80-4 after 13 overs.

And more so when he had Livingstone caught at deep midwicket for 31 at 100-5, 15 balls after hitting a six.

The target later became 30 runs in two overs.

Hurst and Jack Blatherwick hit sixes apiece as 17 came off Akif in the final over before Hurst hit two boundaries on the off-side with one to spare, only to be bowled by a superbly executed delivery from Potts.
