Iranian Lakura. We are the unluckiest team… and we regret losing the win against Egypt

Not Salah… Habib Nejad picks the best player among the Pharaohs

Iran’s national team player Hadi Habibinejad believes that his team has failed at the 2026 World Cup, regretting missing out on the victory against Egypt in the 3rd round of the group stage.

The Iranian national team bid adieu to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico after finishing third in Group 7 with 3 points after 3 draws against New Zealand, Belgium and Egypt.

Iran’s national team came close to winning and qualifying against Egypt after a remarkable second-half performance to score a goal that was disallowed for offside, but forced itself to a 1-1 draw.

Referring to the reasons for Iran’s early exit without losing in the group stage for the first time in Iran’s history, Habibnejad said:

The Iranian international player added: In an interview with Quora to be published later“I think we were affected a lot by not playing enough friendlies before the start of the World Cup and it reflected on us during the tournament.”

He explained the reason for not winning Egypt. “I don’t know the real reason, and until now we still get sad when we remember this match.”

Ahmadinejad, who was with the delegation of the Iranian national team, continued: “From my point of view, we were the most unsuccessful team in the World Cup.

As for the player who caught his eye the most from the Egyptian team during the match, the Iranian player answered: “I think that all the players of the Egyptian national team had a good match, but if I choose one player, I would say that the goalkeeper Mustafa Schubert was the best among them.”
