Two Bolivian child victims who were forced to work in a grocery store were rescued and arrested by Argentine police, he said.
Separately, Belgian authorities have arrested 17 suspects in a crackdown on an alleged human trafficking network that recruited victims through social media and forced them into prostitution rings across Belgium and France.
The operation, which took place between June 8 and 12, was carried out by 40,000 officers in African, American, Asian and European countries.
It was found that most victims were trafficked for sexual exploitation, 20% were forced by a criminal, 11% were forced into labor and 2% were forced into begging.
Interpol stated that the victims identified in the operation were sent to the National Guard and Support Service; As a result, 465 announced that an investigation has been launched.
An additional 201 suspects were also identified in the incident. Countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Nigeria, Thailand and Vietnam participated in the event.
Interpol Secretary-General Valdecy Urquiza said human trafficking remains one of the “most profitable and pervasive” forms of organized crime, generating billions in revenue each year.
He added that the crime caused serious and lasting damage to the victims, and the results of the operation “show what countries can do to disrupt criminal networks and strengthen cooperation between states.”
