The best-placed Brit on the day was Pinarello-Q36.5’s Tom Pidcock in 16th, 18 seconds down, with Colombia’s Egan Bernal of Enos Cycling in British Super Team Netcom.
Pidcock finished 11th in the general classification, one minute 22 seconds down, with Thiemen Arensman of the Netherlands in 16th, one minute 22 seconds down, two minutes 19 seconds behind Yellow.
