“She was feeding a coconut.” Paraguayan senator insults Mbappe with racist comments

A Paraguayan senator’s shocking racist comments against France captain Kylian Mbappe sparked widespread anger after Paraguay’s 2026 World Cup round of 16 exit against France in Philadelphia last Saturday.

According to my report Media: Paraguayan senator Mbappe was attacked with racist and abusive language after he scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot to send France into the quarter-finals.

The match, which the press described as a “decisive moment” in the 2026 World Cup, did not end with the final whistle. As France celebrated their qualification after a volatile and controversial performance, the senator directed his anger at Mbappe, accusing him of “arrogance” for not shaking hands with Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gil after the game.

“This arrogant man has not even learned to write. He was fed coconuts instead of breast milk, and the most cultured people in his life were chimpanzees. You should have shown him your middle finger, Orlando Gil. I do it in the Senate and nothing happens.”

The abuses were not limited to that. The senator described the French captain as a “colonial Cameroonian pretending to be French, disgruntled, rookie, arrogant and ugly”, adding that he was “nervous and terrified throughout the game”.

He criticized the Paraguayan players for not attacking Mbappe, saying: “The only thing that many criticize is that he was not slapped hard at the end of the match. However, I’m not a football fan at all.”

This comes after previous statements by Paraguayan legend Jose Luis Chilavert, who described the French national team as an “African team” before the game.

For its part, Paraguayan newspaper Ultima Hora claimed that Mbappe displayed “arrogant and arrogant behavior throughout the match”, as racist rhetoric escalated in the local media following the defeat.
