It’s official… Tottenham snap up Newcastle star in blockbuster deal

Pre-season strengthening

Tottenham Hotspur announced today, Monday, that they have officially signed one of Europe’s most popular midfielders from Newcastle United in a definitive transfer deal.

Spurs have snapped up Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a bid to strengthen their ranks ahead of the start of the new season.

The 26-year-old Italian player has expressed his great pleasure wearing the “Spurs” shirt, stressing that his first impression of the club has been “wonderful” since his arrival.

“I talked to the coach for about two hours about the club, the fans, the stadium and the style of play. It was like magic and I immediately knew I had to join Tottenham. I’ve met the team a few times before and the atmosphere was always exceptional thanks to their fans.

In his turn, the sporting director of “Tottenham” Johan Lange praised the new contract, saying: “He is one of the best midfielders in Europe and we are very happy that he is joining us.”

The player arrived in England in 2023 from “Milan”, and in 2025 he won the league cup with “Newcastle”.

For their part, Newcastle released an official statement confirming their player’s move to Tottenham, stating that “the value of the deal, which was not disclosed, is the second biggest sale in the club’s history”.
