Tottenham seal £100m move for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali


Tottenham Signature completed Newcastle Midfielder Sandro Tonali for a club-record fee that could reach £100m.

The 26-year-old joins the London club after three seasons with the Magpies.

A bid of around £80m was rejected by Spurs NewcastleBut a deal has been reached where they are expected to pay an initial £92.5m and a further £7.5m in add-ons.

Tonali joins fellow big-money signings Matthew Fernandeswho have been removed from West Ham to Spurs for a fee of £85m

Joined by Italian international Tonali Newcastle From AC Milan in July 2023 for £55m.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) banned him for 10 months soon after his arrival for violating betting rules.

But he came back and became an important player and helped Newcastle Win the Carabao Cup in 2025 – their first trophy in 70 years.

Spurs boss Roberto De Jarbi identified his countryman as a target several years ago while in charge of Sassuolo when Tonali was playing in Serie A.

It’s been a busy summer for Tottenham.

Defenders Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi arrived on free transfers and the club could spend a combined £237m on centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke and midfielders Fernandes and Tonali.
