Many GB athletics stars love the venue, often praising the crowds and atmosphere as well as the legacy of London 2012.

Club athlete Tristan Jamieson, 29, paid £40 for a top-class ticket to travel from Bristol to this year’s London Diamond League, but is now having second thoughts about future years.

“I’m from a very low-income family and I paid the price… I thought that was reasonable, but I didn’t know that other countries pay the price.”

“I’d rather take a cheap flight to Rome.”
