On the eve of the NATO talks, Kyiv went on a rampage, killing nine people.

Rescuers in Kiev are scrambling to find people trapped in partially destroyed apartments after at least nine people were killed in Russia’s second attack on the Ukrainian capital in a week.

Kyiv’s top military commander, Timur Tkachenko, said 46 people were wounded, including at least five children.

The attack took place on the eve of the NATO summit in Turkey, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump.

Hours before the latest attack, Zelensky warned that Moscow was preparing a second “major strike” on Kiev following Thursday’s attack that killed 30 people.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Russian ballistic missiles hit several buildings in the city, causing some apartment buildings to catch fire.

Warehouses and a garage workshop were also damaged, the mayor said.

Photos from Kiev show debris and burned cars in the city. Footage shows crews continuing to sift through debris Monday morning to find survivors.

Hours before the attack on Sunday, Zelenskiy indicated that Kiev would face a second Russian attack in a week.

By Thursday evening, tens of thousands of residents had evacuated to metro stations around the city after drone and missile strikes.

Ukraine accused Moscow of deliberately targeting civilian areas in the attack; At least 30 people were killed in this attack. Russia says it has targeted military and energy sites in retaliation for Ukraine’s recent attacks on power stations and power plants in Russian territory.

Such attacks continued overnight after a temporary power outage in the city of Sevastopol in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Ahead of the NATO summit, Zelensky urged allies not to delay the delivery of long-range missiles against Russia.

He wrote on X: “Any delay in our air defense missiles … means the loss of human life, and will encourage Russia to continue the war.”

Zelensky appealed to Ukraine to allow the production of anti-aircraft missiles.
