World Cup 2026: Carlos Queiroz steps down as Ghana head coach


Carlos Queiroz has stepped down as Ghana’s head coach after three months in charge following their exit in the last 32 of the World Cup.

The 73-year-old took over in April and previously led his side to a third-place finish in Group L. They lost 1-0 to Colombia In the first round of knockouts.

The former Manchester United coach was in charge of his fifth consecutive World Cup, having also led Iran, Portugal and Egypt to major tournaments.

Queiroz was one of two World Cup managers to leave their posts on Sunday, with Jordan also parting ways with head coach Jamal Selami after finishing fourth in Group J.
