A woman has died while skydiving near Nottinghamshire Airport

A young woman has died in a skydiving incident near Nottinghamshire Airport.

Emergency services were called to the area near Langar Airfield at 12:13 BST on Sunday.

A 22-year-old woman was found in a nearby field and pronounced dead at the scene, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by officers. No one else was injured in the incident and a file will now be prepared for the post-mortem, the force said.

Det Insp Rachel Mayfield said: “This was a tragic incident, and we are working with partners to understand what happened.

“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and everyone affected by this incident as our investigation continues at the scene.”
