World Cup 2026: American striker Folarin Balogi handed one-match red card ban by FIFA

Folarin Balogi could play for the United States in their World Cup last-16 game against Belgium after his one-game ban was lifted by FIFA.

The 25-year-old forward was shown a straight red card for a foul on Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Tarik Muharemovic. He won the last 16 game 2-0.

FIFA has announced that the ban will be suspended for one year.

“Pursuant to Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the application of the match ban has been suspended for a one-year probationary period,” it said in a statement.

“If Folarin Balogan commits another violation of the same nature and gravity during the probationary period, the suspension will be revoked and the penalty will be enforced subject to additional sanctions for the new violation.”
