Mexican fans tried to wake England players with music and fireworks near their hotel on the night before the two teams’ last 16 World Cup match.
Footage posted on social media appears to show a group of fans singing, playing music and setting off fireworks on the street at the English Hotel near Mexico City.
Early signs from the England camp had no effect on the players.
Riot police are closing in on the streets of the hotel. Anyone trying to get close is turned away.
The increased security presence comes from Ecuador – Mexico won 2-0 Last 32 World Cup – Fans with loudspeakers, motorbikes and horns complained to world governing body FIFA last week about their noise disrupting their sleep.
The World Cup hosts take on England at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium on Sunday night local time (01:00 BST, Monday).
On Saturday, the team was met with a mixture of cheers and boos from fans as they left their hotel for practice under tight security.
England boss Thomas Tuchel has played down concerns about the treatment of his side in Mexico, saying it was “more exciting” than he expected. And the home fans were “friendly and respectful”..
