China and Russia will conduct annual naval exercises | War Stories


Exercises from Monday to July 13 from Qingdao are followed by maritime patrols in the Pacific Ocean.

Chinese and Russian navies will hold naval and air exercises off China’s east coast next week.

In a statement on Sunday, China’s Ministry of Defense said the annual exercise at the main port of Qingdao will be followed by maritime patrols in an undisclosed location in the Pacific Ocean.

Separately, Russian media reported that a cruiser, a corvette, a diesel-electric submarine and a rescue ship from the Russian Pacific Fleet arrived in Qingdao for exercises scheduled to take place from Monday to July 13.

China’s Northern Theater Command said its participating forces included two destroyers, a frigate, a submarine, a cargo ship and a rescue ship.

The two boats are expected to conduct reconnaissance, air and missile defense, and exercise.

The correction comes almost two months after Russian President Vladimir Putin journey in China, where he explained that the relationship between them has reached “a very high level”.

For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping said the two countries are agreement “unlimited”.

The two military and economic leaders have been conducting Joint Sea Exercises since 2012. Last year’s edition took place near the Russian port of Vladivostok and was followed by joint cruises in the Pacific.

China has never claimed that Russia has invaded neighboring Ukraine. It emphasizes that it is a a non-political party and has been calling for frequent peace talks.
