Morocco’s King Mohammed VI was quick to react to the Atlas Lions reaching the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Morocco secured their place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup after a 3-0 win over Canada, scored by Azedine Ounahi (two goals) and Sofiane Rahim.
“Hesport” website “X” reported that King Mohammed VI congratulated the Lions after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the World Cup in a telephone conversation with coach Mohamed Wehbe and team captain Ashraf Hakimi.
The Moroccan national team began their 2026 World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw with Brazil before beating Scotland and Haiti 1-0 and 4-2 respectively.
Morocco took the third place with 7 points, holding the match against Holland in the round of 32.
The Moroccan team managed to overcome the Windmills team’s ban, 3-2 on penalties, after the initial and extra time ended 1-1.
