The Gunners are changing their skin
Belgian winger Leandro Trossard is close to leaving Arsenal and joining Turkish club Besiktas in a final transfer deal worth €20 million, including €2 million in additional incentives, according to British newspaper The Athletic.
The newspaper revealed that the two clubs have reached a preliminary agreement on the details of the deal, with the 31-year-old having just one year left on his contract with Arsenal, which runs until 2027, having previously been extended from 2025.
This development comes in light of Besiktas’ desire to bolster their ranks with plenty of European experience ahead of the start of the new season.
Trossard leaves Arsenal after a remarkable season that saw them win the Premier League title for the first time since 2004, during which he made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists. He also started 21 Premier League matches, playing a key role in manager Mikel Arteta’s attack.
Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 for over €31 million and has since established himself as a first-team regular.
During his career with the Gunners, he made 174 appearances in all competitions, scoring 36 goals and providing 34 assists, becoming one of the team’s most prolific players in recent seasons.
Trossard is currently with Belgium at the World Cup, where the Red Devils have qualified for the last 16 of the tournament, making the deal official likely after the team’s World Cup campaign is over.
