Barragán, journalist and researcher at The New York Timeshe flew to Lagos to join a group of young, disaffected people. What he’s come back with is a funny, sad, infuriating read about how the internet can cause heartbreak.

On the team

  • Kate Knibbs: senior writer at WIRED, covering prediction markets, the future of media, and how AI is changing the Internet. They also lead WIRED Book Club.
  • Carlos Barragan: journalist and researcher for The New York Times based in Madrid. He was previously a reporter at El Confidencial before earning his MFA in nonfiction from Columbia University. The Yahoo Boys and his first book.
