American Dream refused to compete for the Sunderland Greyhound race

Greyhound, who hates running around the track, pursues the American dream instead.

Instead of doing the season she was born in, Kiki swaps Sunderland with her new family – jazz musicians Natalie Angst and Thomas Antonik.

Kiki accompanies the couple, who currently live in Germany, on their schedules before tucking them into bed at home.

Professional greyhound trainer Yvonne Bell, who raised Kiki, said: “She would play and chase balls all day, but all she wanted was to be attracted to people. Not everyone has a chasing instinct – she was one of those.

Kiki was one of seven litters, most of which went to races.

But when she was taken to the track for her tests, she stood out.

“You can feel it in your body when you hold them,” Bell explained. “She wasn’t really upset…she could have run after him[the rabbit]but she wasn’t interested.”
