He added: “Anyway, thanks for everything guys. It’s been a great adventure and we shouldn’t underestimate the value of what we’ve achieved. I am proud to have spent 12 years here in the national team, during which I have lived through different generations, reaching you today.”

He continued. “You have qualifications, so keep working and don’t give up. The most important thing, as I have always told you, is that when we come here, we come to play for the country and the national flag. Keep this firmly in your mind.”

He continued. “Every minute and every game you play with the national team in your career, always remember that you are playing for the country, guys.”

He continued. “For my part, I gave what I had to offer. There were good things and less good things, but the most important thing is that, as the coach said, I leave with my head held high. I’m proud of what we’ve given, and I’m proud of you too.”

He concluded. “I just wanted to tell you that this is my last match and I wish you all the best, of course with the national team, in your life and career. Thanks guys.”

Notably, Mahrez has played for Algeria for 12 years since his first call-up in 2014, and he has led them to many historic achievements, most notably winning the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
