The management of the Saudi Al-Ahly club is planning to get rid of a new foreign star after the decision to remove the pair represented by Algerian Riyad Mahrez and Ivorian Franck Kesse in the summer transfer period.

Al-Ahly announced Kessie’s departure 3 years after his arrival and the same goes for Mahrez, just waiting for an official announcement.

According to reports from Saudi journalist Muhammad Al-Buqairi, Al-Ahly officials have opened the door to market the contract of Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez, given the interest of a number of European clubs in acquiring his services in the summer Mercato.

Al-Bukairi stated that the main reason for this move is due to Ibanez’s refusal to renew his current contract, which still runs until the summer of 2028, as the administration wants to add two new years to his contract, but the player has not yet given his consent.

He added that the sports management does not want to repeat the scenario of one of the team’s stars leaving without receiving an adequate financial benefit, so it has begun to consider selling the player if his stance of refusing to renew continues.

According to the same source, the annual salary of the Brazilian defender does not exceed 9 million euros, which makes his move to Europe a strong option if the parties reach an agreement in the coming weeks.

Ibáñez is considered one of the most popular defenders in the Saudi Roshan League and he has also been instrumental in Al-Ahly’s achievements, most notably winning the AFC Elite Champions League title.
