Star-studded Argentina will continue their World Cup defense, facing Cape Verde on Friday in a match akin to David vs Goliath.
The holders of the titles in 2022 entered the competition with three wins out of three, thanks to the skills of Lionel Messi, who seems to be enjoying the best World Cup.
His six goals have put him in contention for the Golden Boot, as the 39-year-old continues to break the record on the biggest stage in the world.
The Argentine giants are well known against Cape Verde a small island nation which has become a favorite of neutrals. Only one of the four to reach the Round of 32, Cape Verde is the one to be a very small world to participate in the World Cup.

Although Argentina will join the game in Miami – the home of Messi’s club Inter Miami – Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has rejected suggestions that Cape Verde will be up against two world-class players.
A country of over half a million people, Cape Verde’s World Cup campaign has not only raised the club’s profile but also put the entire island nation on the map.
“They are a good team. We have already looked at them, not because we play against them, but because we analyze who we can compete with and then they succeeded,” said Scaloni.
“We’re not surprised, to be honest, they’re a good team, and they didn’t come by chance, we have to respect them and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Meanwhile, the coach of the Cape Verde team, Bubista, said that his team’s fearless actions, which helped them to go through the qualification and the Argentina group, will not change.
“Since we arrived, we have been confident in our work methods and what we have done.” If others did not respect us, that was their issue.
Argentina has a good path to the semifinals. Australia or Egypt await in the last 16 if Argentina end the Cape Verde legend, while Switzerland or Colombia are the quarterfinal contenders.
Opta’s supercomputers have calculated an 81 percent chance for Argentina to win the game in regulation time, with an 89.4 percent chance of reaching the last 16.
From the 25,000 preliminaries, Cape Verde advanced in 10.6 percent of the trials.

Friday’s match will be the first meeting between Argentina and Cape Verde.
Argentina have won their last seven matches against African rivals at the World Cup, but went down in their first match, a 1-0 loss to Cameroon in 1990.
Cape Verde’s other history sees them become only the third side to face the World Cup holders in their opening stages, after Norway lost 2-1 to Italy in 1938, and Ghana were beaten 3-0 by Brazil in 2006.
No injuries were reported in Argentina’s camp, but Cape Verde’s Telmo Arcanjo is out with an injury. Left-back Sidny Lopes Cabral is also available after serving a one-match ban against Saudi Arabia for picking up yellow cards against Spain and Uruguay.
