Don doesn’t give up
Captain Cristiano Ronaldo refused to budge on a video technology decision that saw Portugal return to action against Croatia in the 2026 World Cup Round of 32 at BMO Field.
The story of excitement began when the Portuguese stands erupted in joy at Ronaldo’s second-half goal, before that joy turned to nausea after interference in the “muscle” room.
After watching the strike, the referee decided to disallow the goal for offside, thus spoiling Don’s celebrations and denying him a World Cup goalscoring record.

But the Portuguese legend, who is used to breaking the limits, refused to have the last word. In the 68th minute, his country earned a penalty, and Ronaldo steadily took the lead and calmly placed the ball in the middle of the goal with a right-footed shot, announcing the equalizing score.
With this goal, Ronaldo not only returned Portugal to the atmosphere of the match, but also sent a clear message that years of experience do not know despair. After the “mouse” spoiled his first joy, he returned to celebrate again, stressing that even at 41 years of age, determination makes the difference and a true leader is one who gets up after every fall to carry his team on his shoulders.
