Katie Boulter and Heather Watson were among the British players to exit the doubles competition in the first round at Wimbledon.

Boulter and Watson survived a 22-point second set tie-break to four match points but eventually lost 6-4 6-7 (12-10) 6-3 against Poland’s Katarzyna Pieter and Czech Anna Siskova.
Olivia Nicholls and Slovakian teammate Tereza Mihalikova, seeded 12th, beat Czech pair Miriam Skoch and Jessica Malekova 6-2 7-6 (7-3).

Defending champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, top seeds Henry Patten and Finnish teammate Harry Heliovara, fifth seeds Neil Skupski and American Christian Harrison and Marcus Willis and David Stevenson each reached the second round of the men’s doubles competition and return to action on Friday.
