The star of Algeria is in the wind.
After a series of conflicting reports and rumors about the future of Algerian Riyad Mahrez, the Saudi club “Al-Ahly” has decided to decide its position once and for all.
Mahrez joined Al-Ahly in the summer of 2023 from Manchester City and has been one of the mainstays in leading Al-Raqi to two consecutive Asian Premier League titles in addition to the domestic Super Cup.
Multiple reports have confirmed that Al-Ahly have decided to activate Mahrez’s release clause until last June 30 to avoid paying €40 million after the aforementioned date and settle for just €15 million.

According to Dorina Gear sources, the rumors about Al-Ahly withdrawing their decision have no basis in fact and the player will leave for good.
The source details that Al-Ahly management are keen to inject new blood and believe the decision to get rid of Mahrez cannot be delayed and the player is now out of the club.
Al-Ahly’s decision caused a major crisis for the Algerian star and his agent, especially as press reports indicated that the player was aware of the decision while playing for his country at the World Cup in America.
