The deal for one of the Saudi league’s most popular stars has turned into one of the most complicated documents of the summer transfer window after the big clubs’ interest hit a huge financial hurdle that could end the race early and close the seemingly closed transfer door.

Al-Etifaq winger Khaled Al-Ghannam has emerged as one of the most popular targets in the transfer market after an exceptional season with the club following his move from Al-Hilal, where he previously featured as one of Salem Al-Dosari’s attacking options.
According to Saudi newspaper Al-Youm, the management of the deal closed the door on any direct negotiations and demanded to receive the full value of the penalty clause, 46 million riyals, in order to confirm the player’s departure.
This amount puts interested clubs in front of a difficult decision, especially with a transfer market crowded with so many deals, for Khaled Al-Ghannam’s future to be suspended between the commitment of the agreement to their star and the desire of the Roshen league captains to sign one of the most famous discoveries of last season.

Al-Ghannam managed to return to his best form with Al-Etifaq, putting in one of his best ever seasons after topping the list of Saudi Arabian players with the most goals in the Roshan League last season.
The player scored 13 goals in addition to providing seven assists, confirming his massive development to become one of the league’s most sought-after local players after establishing himself as one of the competition’s most prominent attacking weapons.
Al-Ghannam’s brilliance has attracted the interest of a number of big clubs, with Al-Ittihad, Al-Nasr and Al-Ahly all targeting him in the current summer transfer window, looking to bolster their front line with a local player who possesses pace and determination.
