Slot: I need to prove myself every 3 days…and winning won’t lose the critics

Liverpool manager Arnie Slott has confirmed that getting a positive result against arch-rivals Manchester United will not prove much to him and his critics.

Three straight wins have moved Liverpool within reach of third-placed Manchester United in the English Premier League before the two teams meet at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Slott goes into the game with the chance to become the first manager in Liverpool’s history to win his first two league matches away from home against United, a ground that has seen the team succeed in three of their last five visits.

A win over Manchester United hardly proves anything to those who criticize me. We have to prove ourselves every week. This issue is not only related to the players, but also to me.

“It doesn’t just happen against United, it happens against Fulham or Palace as well. This is the nature of our lives.

He continued. “We have to prove ourselves every three days and people judge us every three days. This is completely fair, and we knew it when we took the job.”

He added: “I think you must judge whether I have been judged harshly by many, that is none of my business.”

“I judge my players if they play well, if they work hard and implement tactics. I’m not in this job to judge whether I’ve been criticized too harshly, that’s not how I spend my time.”
