Portugal’s Joao Cancelo is on the verge of a direct confrontation with the Al Hilal board after he expressed his intention to leave in the current summer transfer window, given his clear desire to return to Barcelona and not continue with the Saudi outfit next season.
According to the newspaper “Sports“ In Spanish, Cancelo has told Al Hilal management through his agent that he does not want to see out the final year of his contract, demanding that the club open the door to negotiations with Barcelona to complete his transfer after the 2026 World Cup.
The newspaper clarified that Barcelona are not concerned about the deal as they look forward to Cancelo being first choice at right-back, and the two sides have already agreed a preliminary agreement to sign a two-season contract pending an agreement with Al Hilal.
The report confirms Cancelo is ready to toughen his stance if talks do not go through after the World Cup, as he considers stepping in to pressure Al Hilal management to facilitate his move to the Catalan club after he became convinced his future lies at the Camp Nou.
