Billed as a “bold social experiment”, Married at First UK – known to many as MAFS – sees singles agree to “marry” total strangers, after first meeting at their mock wedding.
The UK version, which ran for 10 seasons, is one of Channel 4’s biggest shows, with viewership numbers often exceeding three million.
In May, Channel 4 will be able to broadcast all episodes of the show in a panoramic screening hours before the broadcast.
No decision has yet been made to air the latest series of the previously filmed show.
The broadcaster said its review of MAFS UK would be completed later this summer. However, he intends to publish a “summary of findings” rather than the full report.
Lawyers for CPL, the independent production company that produces the UK show, said the charity system was the “gold standard” and led the industry.
