Gary Glitter has been accused of historical sexual offenses

Former singer Gary Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, died in 2010. He was charged with historic sexual offenses in 1978, the Metropolitan Police said.

The charges relate to unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13 and unlawful sexual assault of a girl under the age of three.

There is one alleged victim who is said to have committed the offenses between 1978-1981 at a residential address in Kensington.

Gadd will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.

The allegation was first reported to the Met on 9 January 2025 and an investigation into the circumstances was launched.

Gad was first interviewed in connection with the investigation on 22 July 2025.

The alleged victim is currently being supported by specialists, and has been notified of this update.
