Media reports have revealed that Al-Ittihad Club’s talks with one of its coaches to take over next season to replace Portugal’s Sergio Conceicao will fall through due to his permanent retirement from football.

Al-Ittihad club is looking for a new coach to lead it next seasonAfter Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao was fired at the end of last season due to poor results.

According to media reports, Al-Ittihad have held talks with Mexico coach Javier Aguirre to take over next season after his retirement with his country at the 2026 World Cup.

However, Mexican journalist Fernando Cevallos has revealed Aguirre’s intention to retire from football for good after the 2026 World Cup.

During the “Dorena Gear” program of the “Saudi Arabia” TV channel, Sevalyos said: “Aguirre’s contract with Mexico expires after the World Cup as he wants to retire after the tournament, even if he wins it.”

“However, as I know Javier Aguirre, everything is possible. He can change his mind because he is a coach who loves the pitch and training, and if he gets a good offer, and with the popularity and long history of the Al-Ittihad club, anything is possible.”

Aguirre is preparing for a strong performance with Mexico in the quarter-finals when they face England in the early hours of next Monday at the Azteca Stadium.
