Competition world champion Alfie Watts laptop stolen in Cardiff

Race Across The World winner Alfie Watts has expressed his “huge disappointment” after his car was broken into and his laptop stolen while on a school tour.

His toolkit contains approaches he uses to talk with young people about positivity, resilience and mental health.

Watts, 22, said he left his car parked for 20 minutes when an opportunist smashed the window and found the laptop bag under the seat in Howard Place, Cardiff, on Tuesday night.

“Honestly, I guess it’s like 50-50, I either have something in there or I don’t,” he said.

Watts said the crime was “low profile” following two other unrelated burglaries in the past two months.

The material on the laptop is backed up on the internet, including at Mount Stewart Primary School in Cardiff Bay, so the theft did not affect three lectures scheduled to go ahead on Wednesday.

“I know this is not an indictment of the people of Wales and especially not the city of Cardiff,” he said.

“It’s just a big disappointment.”
