Senegal’s national team bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup in dramatic fashion, losing to Belgium (3-2) in extra time in the round of 32 at the Seattle Stadium in the United States of America on Wednesday evening.
The Lions of Teranga became the first team in the history of the World Cup to progress to the knockout stages, leading by two goals until the 85th minute in one of the most exciting matches of the tournament.

Senegal continued their struggles against European teams at the World Cup as they suffered their fifth consecutive defeat against the Old Continent, conceding 3 goals in each of their last 4 encounters.
