Some of that weight is due to the bike’s battery, which adds another 6.4 pounds to the total. It’s a pack that, thanks to an easy-to-access external port, you can charge without removing it from the bike. Although, if you want to charge it inside, the battery is easily removed from its housing under the bike rack. And, while most of the battery is used to power the bike, some power the bike’s bright 90-lumen headlight, brake light, and side signals.
The battery took less than seven hours to go from dead to full, which Lectric says can get you up to 60 miles. Of course, those 60 kilometers are in good conditions, probably with a very light rider, and on flat roads. Because of my size, the mountains surrounding my town, and the fact that I enjoy a little finger tapping, I couldn’t find nearly that kind of quality at full price. But, I was able to get 30 miles from a full battery as I moved between different power settings and opened the throttle all the way. For commuting or just commuting, I’ve found the battery life to be adequate.
For all that, you still have to stop, and the large 180-mm, 2.3-mm-thick coilovers paired with hydraulic brakes brought the 300-plus pounds of me-plus-bike to a smooth and proper suspension. During the test, I always felt that I was controlling my speed, even down the hill. The bike also has a smooth SR Suntour XCM32 suspension fork with 80 mm of travel, which easily clears the small bumps, potholes, and asphalt divots that I regularly encounter.
Often times, cruisers can feel more like a sailboat than a speedboat. However, despite the straightness and ride of the bike, all of which could have made the bike feel like it was bumpy or just plain boring, the XPress2 has a balance that riders often miss. This is mainly due to its 27.5-inch wheels and its large 2.1-inch tires, which find the sweet spot between being thick enough to withstand rough and narrow roads to feel like you can tear it up. The tires are also puncture-proof, filled with Slime tire sealant, which prevents punctures by filling small holes without the rider even knowing. This information, combined with the narrow wheelbase, allowed me to move around the car and commute to my small college town with ease and comfort.

After a week of riding, I only got two issues with XPress2.
