A woman who was raped by Superdry founder James Holder has told the BBC she was working for him at the time of the attack and had to return to work days later to confront him.
In the year One Friday night in 2022, Gemma, not her real name, is attacked by a disgraced fashion boss in her own home after Holder gets into her cab after work drinks.
In an exclusive interview, she revealed that after leaving Superdry in 2016, she felt nervous and dreaded the next Monday morning when she went to work.
When asked if he talked to her that week, he said, “Yes, he did. Just like he talked to me the week before. Like nothing happened.”

Due to her right to anonymity, Gemma’s working relationship with Holder could not be previously reported.
However, in her first media interview, Gemma revealed that she first worked as a holder at fashion company Superdry in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, before joining another business venture.
She said she had no direct contact with Holder while at Superdry, describing him as having an almost “celebrity-like” status.
But when she later moved to a new company, she said she became more aware of his “controlling” nature.
She described a work culture where there was “no room for error” and where everyone was “on high alert”.
“It was definitely a way of trying to command respect and loyalty to his agenda, definitely,” she said.
