The price of LG’s UltraGear 27GX700A-B 1440p gaming monitor which came out last August has fallen to almost its best value. You can handle it Amazon for $484.99 or at LG for $499.99 (originally $599.99). It’s very interesting considering that this is one of LG’s Primary RGB Tandem panels built with fourth-generation WOLED technology that offers greater brightness and punchier contrast than its predecessor, competing with QD-OLED.
This version can satisfy gamers with PCs designed to deliver smooth 1440p gaming. It has a refresh rate of 280Hz, twin HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort 1.4 jack, a response time of around .03-millisecond, not to mention a small design. The monitor also has USB-A ports for connecting devices, and a headphone jack for private listening.
The 27GX700A-B supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and is Nvidia G-Sync-compatible, meaning it supports variable refresh rates and can keep the image smooth even with frame rate differences. We have not tested this model, but the review page Rings it says it has “anti-VRR flicker,” though that depends on the game.
Although costs have risen in recent months for computer components such as RAM and storage, it has been interesting to see the prices go the other way for OLED gaming monitors. Some people may prefer to spend less money on faster, full IPS and VA panels, but it’s great that there are plenty of opportunities to get the best technology for your gaming PC or console.
