Wimbledon 2026: Katie Swan wins SW19 comeback after considering retirement

Swann first gained popularity as a 15-year-old when she reached the 2015 Australian Open Girls’ Singles Final.

A year later, he became the youngest player to represent Great Britain in the Billie Jean King Cup.

But his career never turned out as many expected.

Swan was plagued by constant back injuries and often forced himself to play through excruciating pain. By the end of 2024, he had reached the breaking point.

“I didn’t play tennis anymore. I was coaching in the United States and I wasn’t really sure there was a way back into professional tennis,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I never fell in love with sports. I couldn’t stay healthy for long.

“I was trying to enjoy myself I did what I could to coach and make some money, but it wasn’t really fulfilling for me at that point.

“I knew I could give so much more if I could find a way to solve my health problems.”

Fortunately for Swann, she found a doctor who could help. Unfortunately, the treatment he required was “painful”.

“He ended up doing a nerve type treatment on me. It was very painful,” he said.

“He could see that my nerves weren’t working properly. It wasn’t very enjoyable, but I spent a few weeks with him and it really helped.”
