Pete, an avid mountaineer, says his son was diagnosed with an aggressive spina bifida and left paralyzed at the age of three after his legs “just stopped working” one day.

“He had a sore back, but he was still young and couldn’t explain what the problem was,” Haslam said.

“The tumor doubles in size every 24 hours.”

Their fundraising for Molly Ollis, a Warwick-based charity that supports life-threatening illnesses, has now surpassed the target of £5,000 by £11,000.

Pitt said: “It’s just crazy, because we got into Her Royal Highness, she has a lot of media attention.

“We’re getting so many more donations, which is absolutely incredible, and some of the messages people are leaving are really inspiring, so beautiful.

“We hope it inspires other kids in similar situations like Ted to think outside the box and see what they’re capable of.”
