“June Brown, as Dot Cotton, mentioned it on the Oriental episode,” Ryan said.

“In her personal life she has spoken about her positive experiences at Cwm Gwendraeth in Ponteith but I think Eastern fans, maybe not everyone, will know the connection to our little village.”

The mural was paid for to attend several fundraisers, and Rhian said the “older generation” locals seem to know little about Brown’s connection to the area.

Young people, not so much.

Still, she added, “it was definitely a conversation starter between people.”

“Rugby is a good thing to watch in the village or in the park with your children.”
