French media reported that three people were injured in the Monaco explosion

An explosion at a residential building in Monaco injured three people, two seriously, French media reported.

The explosion occurred at around 19:00 after a bag was left outside the building on rue Reverend Père Louis Frolla, near the border with France.

State Minister Christophe Mirmand told Agence France-Presse it was “a possible attack” and police were investigating.

He said the blast was caused by an explosive device that appeared to contain bolts and pellets.

“As far as I know, this is the first time in history that such an action has been taken by a head of state,” said Monaco’s head of government, Mirmand.

Police and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene.
