Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said in a telegraph message that one of the victims was a 13-year-old girl. He posted photos of a house with broken windows and a blurry photo of a body near the stairs.

“People have serious brain injuries, shrapnel wounds, fractures and blasts,” he said.

At least three people were killed and six others were injured, including a child, in a drone strike in Zaporizhzhia, Zelenskyy said. The city is about 30km from the front and the Russian regional headquarters says it is occupied territory but does not fully control it.

The Ukrainian president said that Russia had also carried out protests in the regions of Sumy, Odesa, Chernihiv, Kherson and Kharkiv.

The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia’s views on the peace deal have not changed since 2024, when President Vladimir Putin said Kyiv’s military must withdraw from four territories Moscow claims as its own and publicly abandon its plans to join NATO.

Putin said in a televised interview over the weekend that Russia would move forward with the goal of controlling the region, rejecting what he said was Ukraine’s new plan to reduce hostilities.

Putin said Kyiv wanted to end the long-running conflict and limit fighting to four regions, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
