England fans traveling to the World Cup say it’s ‘worth every penny’

Scarborough-based Danny Williams and Joe Gallagher proved to be members of Tuchel’s traveling squad in Dallas and Boston, where England played their opening two group games, with their flag often flying over the popular North Yorkshire seaside resort.

“It’s been well received,” Williams, 34, said.

“Our only regret is not staying longer,” said Gallagher, 35, who says the couple enjoyed their time flying the home flag and cheering on the national team.

“We are all well received.”

Despite questions about the level of interest in the race among North Americans and the potential hostility towards some countries, North Yorkshire Council’s highway worker Williams said the locals were “friendly and definitely for Fluffy”.

He added: “America is beautiful, we got half a decent result and everything was amazing.

The pair, who regularly watch the Three Lions, admit they would love to be in the final but cannot justify the £3,000 each ticket.

“You could take the whole family to Barbados for that price,” says Gallagher, who works as a police officer in North Yorkshire.
