Murder charged in court in the summer of the Peak District

A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after another man died in the Peak District this spring.

The body of Isaac Clare-Watts, 26, from Nottingham, was found at 13:38 BST on 22 June at 9 Ladies Stone Circle in Stanton Lees.

The police said that Szymon Babynko – a Polish citizen – was charged with the murder of Clare-Watts.

Babynko, of Commonwealth Way, London, appeared at Derby Justice Center on Monday and is also charged with attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon in relation to an incident in Haddy Lane, Chesterfield, on Thursday.

The 23-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during the brief hearing.

District Judge Jonathan Taff remanded Babinko in custody ahead of a court date at Derby Crown Court on Wednesday.

A 41-year-old man – who was arrested on suspicion of murder after Clare-Watts’ death – was released on bail last week.

Police have set up a public portal where members of the public can send information about officers.
