Jack Morgan: The Wales flanker has backed Dewey Lake’s captaincy credentials

Morgan missed eight Tests with a shoulder injury picked up in Steve Tandy’s first game in charge at the Principality Stadium.

The Gloucester-bound returned to play at flanker 33-31 win over the Barbarians at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.

It was an uncapped warm-up game for the Nations Championship tournament which starts next Saturday at Cardiff City Stadium before Fiji’s tour against Argentina and South Africa.

Morgan took over the captaincy when Lake were lifted at half-time.

“I love coming back,” Morgan said. “It’s always an honor to wear the jersey and I’m delighted to be back on the field with the boys.

“It was a tough game against a good Barbarian side and it was great to be able to get that win.”

Morgan said he has seen improvement under Tandy since his return.

“It’s been great to watch because you can see how Steve and the coaches want to execute the game,” Morgan said.

“You could see we were getting better every game during the Six Nations. You could see the identity we were trying to bring.

“You always want to be out on the field, but it was great to see the boys play and I thought they did a great job.”
